"With their eclectic blend of hip-hop, funk, rock, and experimental sounds, Grand Prize Winners From Last Year have long been at the forefront of the Atlanta scene. The group’s crossover appeal has allowed them to play to various audiences in a wide variety of environments, which has only emboldened the group to increasingly expand their musical boundaries. But while the group continues to work on their third album recorded at Stankonia with the support of Converse Rubber Tracks, GPWFLY frontman BELIEVE has already dropped a pair of singles in support of his upcoming LP, Audio Vimana. Although the tracks retain the adventurous spirit that has come to define his group’s work, there’s a singularity to the songwriting that shows the artist coming into his own. Inspired by the post-punk and new wave he grew up to listening on the radio, his new work finds Believe utilizing retro dance grooves to explore a kind of dark and mysterious R&B aesthetic."
